Heim, Payne & Chorush IPR Practice Ranked Among Best in 2025 PTAB Intelligence Report

Heim, Payne & Chorush and several of the firm’s experienced attorneys are recognized for their work before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office’s Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) in the 2025 PTAB Intelligence Report.

California-based Patexia Inc., a leading provider of intellectual property research and data for companies worldwide, publishes the annual report. For this year’s rankings, Patexia reviewed every PTAB proceeding filed between July 1, 2020, and June 30, 2025, including 850 law firms and over 1,000 attorneys.

“In addition to our work in intellectual property trials, we are representing a growing number of companies before the PTAB, so it is nice to see that work recognized based on real numbers,” says Heim, Payne & Chorush founding partner Michael Heim.

Heim, Payne & Chorush is ranked No. 14 among the 100 Best Performing firms for patent owners, out of over 700 qualifying firms, and is also the 23rd Best Performing firm overall. The firm is the 25th Most Active for patent owners and 55th Most Active overall. The report also recognizes Heim, Payne & Choursh’s work for PTAB petitioners, with the firm earning rankings for Best Performing and Most Active firms.

Mr. Heim earned the No. 4 ranking among the 100 Best Performing attorneys representing patent owners, where the firm’s Chris Limbacher and Kyle Friesen are ranked No. 44 and No. 61, respectively. The three attorneys are also included among the 100 Most Active for patent owners. Mr. Heim is additionally listed as No. 15 among the 100 Best Performing Attorneys overall for petitioners or patent owners.
