Heim, Payne & Chorush Welcomes Experienced Intellectual Property Attorney Kyle Friesen
Heim, Payne & Chorush has added experienced attorney Kyle Friesen as Senior Counsel. Mr. Friesen focuses on patent disputes before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office’s Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB), the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, and federal district courts in Texas and across the United States.
Mr. Friesen’s track record includes defending patent rights in inter partes review and other post-grant proceedings since the PTAB was established in 2012, successfully representing clients across a wide range of technologies, including semiconductors, medical devices, telecommunications, imaging, and electronics, among others.
In addition to his patent work in courts, Mr. Friesen provides expertise in intellectual property matters that impact business transactions, including potential infringement and invalidity issues, as well as commercial contracts and financing agreements.
“We are excited to welcome Kyle to Heim, Payne & Chorush. He brings tested skills and commitment to every case,” says firm founder Michael Heim. “Kyle knows how intellectual property law works in business and court, which is a great fit for what our clients need.”
Mr. Friesen was recently recognized for his pro bono work on behalf of an intellectually disabled Texas prisoner who had spent more than 20 years on death row. The ruling issued by the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals spared the man’s life and became one of the rare instances where the state’s highest criminal court decided to amend a prior death sentence.
